1. Educational Projects

Shaanxi Province
The construction of the Left-Behind Student Hostel at Huang Sitian Primary School (Zhengqi Village, Shiquan County, Ankang Prefecture) has been completed and in use since Sep 2009.

Yunnan Province
Sponsored by a member, He Chunxiu has completed her undergraduate studies and is the first university graduate from that region. She has sent a letter of thanks to Friends of Guangming.

Sichuan Province
Friends of Guangming has worked with the charity group of Sichuan Broadcasting University on the following projects in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture:

• Senior high school sponsorship program at Dardo High School - initial September 2010 intake of 20 students, total commitment for the first year being CNY40,000.
  
  
• Computer equipment upgrade at the Central Primary School in Sertar County, total amount being CNY70,000.

Apart from these completed projects, the student canteen reconstruction project for Fangcun Primary School (Nanyang Town, Fufeng County, Baoji Prefecture, Shaanxi Province) was proposed and approved by the board. Fundraising for CNY100,000 is in progress.
　

2. Field Trips / Activities

Adelina Wong (Chairman), Dr Kim-kwong Chan (Advisor) and MH Lee (volunteer) visited project sites in Shaanxi, and discussed future collaboration with Shaanxi Soong Ching Ling Foundation during December 25-31, 2009.

Dr Kim-kwong Chan, and Mr & Mrs Kam Wah Li revisited the Left-Behind Student Hostel in Shaanxi during May 2-6, 2010, and finalized the 3-year training plan for school counselors to be kicked off in August 2010.
　

3. Other Matters

• Mr Kam Wah Li, seasoned Clinical Psychologist, has accepted our invitation to be an Advisor for our Association.
  
  
• Dr Kim-kwong Chan, our Advisor, has accepted the invitation to sit on the board of Shaanxi Soong Ching Ling Foundation for a 3-year tenure.
  
  
• Mr Siu Chung Leung has accepted our invitation to be our on-site representative at Sichuan and to help monitoring Sichuan projects.
  
  
• Congratulations to Ms Holly Ho, our Director, on being honored with the Chairman's Award for Exceptional Volunteerism by State Street Corporation, her employer. We thank State Street for the US$10,000 award grant designated by Holly.
